Alaska Hovercraft: Big Big Big!!!


Here are a few shots of the Hover Landing Craft, which is utilized for hauling freight and passengers from Anchorage accessing Northern Cook Inlet. It is currently being serviced for the 2007 season. This hovercraft has a hover height of 18.5 inchs and a lifting capacity of 2.5 tons. This unit has a cargo deck that is 77 inchs wide and more than 20 ft long, allowing it to carry some small cars, four wheelers, and argos. It can also transport bulk fuel. The skirt system is so large that it is easy to inspect by walking around inside of the skirt when it is idling.

Cook Inlet Hovercraft Tour: Looking at Anchorage

More pictures of the Cook Inlet Tour. A few pics a recent Hovercraft Demo. The Anchorage Hoverport is getting a lot of interest for Charters and Sales, and the first summer trip to Beluga and Tyonek will happen this week. Pictures of the Hover-Landing Craft will be posted soon.

Cook Inlet Hovercraft Tour: Bear Claws


On a recent tour of Cook Inlet we found a set of new bear claw marks on a duck shack. Here are a few more pics of the views of Downtown Anchorage from the other side of the Cook Inlet. The Hovercraft can get across the Knik Arm in less than 8 minutes. Daily Hovercraft Tours will be starting out of Anchorage Next Month.

Hovercraft Construction

USHovercraft welcomes Mike M to the Hovercraft Construction Team. Mike is an engineering student at the University of Alaska in Anchorage, and will be contructing, operating and performing field repairs to hovercraft.

Two hovercraft at the Anchorage Hoverport

The Hoverport will be completed this week, opening soon for summer charter work. The Anchorage city skyline can be seen in the background. The Hoverport is located on Ship Creek Boat Lauch Road.

H101 Class Cancelled In Ancohrage

The Hovercraft training, H101, scheduled for May 5, has been cancelled due to the conflicting construction at the Port of Anchorage and the continued construction of the Expeditor Hover Landing Craft. Sorry for the inconvenience, and those on the email list will be notified as soon as another training opportunity is scheduled.
